2021 Toyota Sequoia
The large Toyota Sequoia is an ideal SUV for large families. It has tons of space in the cabin and a large cargo area, and with a TRD Pro trim available, this Toyota can take the whole family almost anywhere they want to go. For the 2021 model year, a new Nightshade model joins the lineup. It has black wheels, dark chrome trim elements, and dark badging on the outside, while inside, it adds black leather upholstery. Trim Levels (Exterior)
Toyota starts the Sequoia lineup with the SR5. It has 18-inch wheels, a sunroof, and LED headlights, and fog lights. The TRD Sport adds 20-inch TRD wheels, black exterior trim, and a roof rack, while the TRD Pro has Rigid Industry LED fog lights, Fox shocks, and skid plates, along with 18-inch BBS wheels. Stepping up to the Limited adds 20-inch wheels and chrome exterior trim, and the Nightshade Edition has black 20-inch wheels and dark chrome and black trim. At the top of the lineup, the Platinum comes with power-folding and heated side door mirrors, and an adaptive suspension.
Engine (Power)
Every Sequoia comes with a 5.7-liter V-8 gas engine that puts out 381 horsepower. Rear-wheel drive comes standard for most models, with four-wheel drive offered as an option. If you want standard four-wheel drive, choose the TRD Pro or the Platinum.
Performance
The Sequoia is a large vehicle, but the V-8 has plenty of power to swiftly get it up to speed and propel it down the highway. It rides smoothly over most surfaces and has a suspension that easily eats up road imperfections. When equipped, the Sequoia can tow up to 7,400 pounds.
Interior
Inside, there is plenty of room for eight passengers in this large SUV. The third row is spacious and easy to get to because of the large rear doors and second-row seats that will not only fold down, but slide back and forth. Some standard cabin features include tri-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a power-adjustable driver's seat. Moving up through the trims adds extras such as second-row captain's chairs, and a power-adjustable passenger seat. If you bump all the up to the Platinum, you'll get ventilated front seats. Technology features in the Sequoia include a 7-inch touch screen display and Toyota's infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and Android Auto. You can get navigation with the TRD Sport package, which also comes with an upgraded JBL stereo system. The features of this package come standard with the Limited and above.
Safety Features
The Safety Sense P suite of advanced safety technology comes standard with every Sequoia. The bundle includes a forward-collision warning system with automatic braking, automatic high beam headlights, lane-departure warning, radar-based cruise control, and pedestrian detection. A bind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert also comes standard at every trim level, along with a stability control system, anti-lock brakes, s rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, and a full suite of air bags.
