2021 Toyota Camry
The Toyota Camry is a sleek family sedan that stands out in a competitive market segment, and the 2021 model arrived with some small but significant changes. The entry-level L model is gone from the lineup, making the LE the new base trim. Inside, new touch screens resemble tablets and measure either 7 or 9 inches. Other updates include the option for the hybrid powertrain for the XSE, and the XLE now comes with leather upholstery.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level LE comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, while the SE has 18-inch alloy wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, and a rear spoiler. It also has dark exterior trim elements. The SE Nightshade has unique 18-inch wheels, black exterior trim, and a rear spoiler. The new TRD gains the TRD-tuned suspension, 19-inch wheels, summer tires, and a large rear wing.
Step up to the XLE for chrome exterior trim, keyless entry, and LED headlights, or go with the XSE for 19-inch wheels, a gloss black grille, and dual exhaust tips.
Engine (Power)
The standard engine for the 2021 Camry is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine that puts out 203 horsepower. An optional 3.5-liter V-6 for the SXE and SLE bumps up the horsepower to 301, and this larger engine comes standard with the TRD. Every Camry comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive is also standard. All-wheel drive is an option for the four-cylinder.
Performance
The Camry offers a nicely controlled ride, and it has a responsive steering system. It takes corners with ease and feels firmly connected to the road when going around tight curves. The four-cylinder has plenty of power for everyday driving, and if you opt for the all-wheel drive, it does an excellent job of gripping the road in slippery conditions.
Interior
The five-passenger cabin offers the perfect blend of style and comfort. Cloth upholstery comes standard, and even the base trim has an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat. The SE adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel, front sport seats, and paddle shifters. Both the XSE and XLE have heated front seats, leather upholstery, and heated passenger seats. The tech features in the 2021 Camry start with a 7-inch touch screen and Toyota's infotainment system that works with Amazon Alexa, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. You'll get a Wi-Fi hot spot with every model, with satellite radio as an option for the lower trims and standard in the XSE and XLE. The two higher trims also have a 9-inch touch screen and offer the option for extra USB ports.
Safety Features
Every Camry comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+. This bundles active safety features such as lane-departure warning, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic braking. It also has an enhanced pedestrian detection system, automatic high beam headlights, bicyclist detection, and a new intersection assist feature that warns the driver of oncoming pedestrians and vehicles when making a left-hand turn. A blind-spot monitor is optional for the SE, along with rear cross-traffic alert, and these come standard with the XLE and XSE.
