2021 Toyota Land Cruiser
The Toyota Land Cruiser is a full-size luxury SUV. It is a capable off-road vehicle that also delivers an upscale ride. The 2021 Land Cruiser carries over with very few changes from 2020. The Heritage Edition receives the only significant update and now offers the option for a third row of seats. The only other update is some new paint color options for the top-level trim.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The standard Land Cruiser comes with 18-inch silver alloy wheels, a sunroof, skid plates, automatic LED headlights, automatic windshield wipers, power-folding side mirrors with an auto-dimming function, running boards, and keyless proximity entry. The Heritage Edition has a unique front grille design, a Yakima roof rack, dark chrome exterior trim, 18-inch bronze alloy wheels, Land Cruiser badging, and it removes the running boards to give it a more athletic look and increase the ground clearance. Both trims have off-road tires, tow hooks, and a two-speed transfer case.
Engine (Power)
Both Land Cruiser models come with a 5.7-liter V-8 gas engine that puts out 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. It comes standard with four-wheel drive, and it has an eight-speed automatic transmission. In addition to the strong engine, the Land Cruiser has Toyota's Crawl Control system that works like cruise control for off-road terrain. It also has several terrain modes to help tackle different road and off-road conditions, and it comes with active traction control.
Performance
The V-8 accelerates quickly from a stop and will get the large Land Cruiser up to highway speed with no problem. It has plenty of passing power and provides a comfortable ride down the highway. The off-road features, such as Toyota's Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System and the locking center differential, make this large SUV capable of tackling almost any terrain. When equipped, it can tow up to 8,100 pounds.
Interior
There's room for eight in the standard Land Cruiser. If you choose the Heritage Edition, it comes with two rows but offers a third row as an option if you need more seating. Behind all three rows, you'll find 16.1 cubic feet, with 41.4 cubic feet behind the second row. Standard cabin features start with four-zone automatic climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, power-adjustable front seats, and heated rear seats. Technology in the Land Cruiser includes a 9-inch touch screen, navigation, wireless charging, a 14-speaker JBL stereo system, HD radio, and a USB port. A rear-seat entertainment system is an option for the standard Land Cruiser and comes with two 11.6-inch screens, wireless headphones, an HDMI input, and RCA jacks.
Safety Features
Every Land Cruiser has stability control, a full suite of air bags, and the Toyota Safety Sense P suite. This group of advanced safety features includes forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic braking for emergencies, lane-departure warning, and automatic high beam headlights. Adaptive cruise control comes standard with both models, and Toyota also makes their Safety Connect telematics system standard. This provides automatic collision notification that will notify and send help if you get into an accident.
