The Sienna received a makeover for the 2021 model year. It now comes with a hybrid powertrain, an upgraded and more stylish exterior look that even resembles an SUV, and updates to the design, features, and tech in the cabin. Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Sienna LE has 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, and power-sliding side doors. A sunroof is available for the LE with the LE Pus Package, which also adds black roof rails, and the SLE SV makes the sunroof standard. The XSE has 20-inch wheels, black roof rails, and a black mesh grille. A step up to the Limited will get you 18-inch wheels color-keyed exterior mirrors with puddle lamps, and chrome roof rails, and the Platinum comes with Bi-LED headlights and 20-inch wheels.
Engine (Power)
The 2021 Sienna has a hybrid power train no matter which trim you choose. It's made up of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine and two electric motors that combine to generate 243 horsepower. You can either front wheel-drive or all-wheel drive. The all-wheel drive models use the rear-mounted electric motor to power the rear wheels when more traction is needed.
Performance
The torque from the electric motors provides the Sienna with quick acceleration from a stop, and the CVT works to provide a smooth ride. This latest version of the Sienna has a good suspension the minimized body roll, and its easy to drive.
Interior
Toyota made some changes in the Sienna's cabin, including adding extra slide length for the second-row seats. They will now move forward and back up to 25 inches. The new layout is more open than before and features a center seat that you can stow down in the floor when you don't need it. Three-zone automatic climate control comes standard along with cloth upholstery and 16 cupholders. You'll get heated front seats in the XLE, leather upholstery in the Limited, and heated second-row seats in the Platinum. The Platinum's captain's chairs also have extendable footrests. Technology features start with a 9-inch touch screen, a six-speaker stereo, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless charging is optional for the LE and standard in the XSE and above. You can also get a 120-volt power outlet, a 12-speaker JBL stereo, and an integrated refrigerator in the Platinum.
Safety Features
Every 2021 Sienna comes with a full suite of safety features. The standard driver aids include forward collision warning with mitigation, pedestrian detection, automatic braking, dynamic radar cruise control, and automatic high beam headlights. Other standard safety systems include a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and the rear seat reminder that lets the driver know if they left a child or pet behind in the rear seat. Rain-sensing windshield wipers come in the Platinum, which also has a 360-degree surround-view camera system.
