2022 Toyota Avalon
The Toyota Avalon might have a bold look on the outside, but it's all about comfort and convenience on the inside. This sedan has a spacious cabin, and it comes well-equipped with tech features and upscale materials. Toyota streamlined the trim lineup for the 2022 model year by removing the TRD model, but they also added some extra driver-assist safety features to all models.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level XLE starts the Avalon lineup with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, and LED taillights. It also comes standard with heated and power-adjustable side exterior mirrors and integrated turn signals. The XSE Nightshade edition adds black-painted 19-inch wheels and black exterior trim elements. The Touring also has 19-inch black-painted wheels, and it adds a black rear spoiler along with chrome exhaust tips. Stepping up to the Limited gets you 18-inch chrome alloy wheels, a sunroof, and upgrades in the cabin.
Engine (Power)
Power for all Avalons comes from a 3.5-liter V-6 gas engine that puts out 301 horsepower and generates 267 pound-feet of torque. Every model has front-wheel drive and uses Toyota's eight-speed automatic transmission.
Perfromance
The engine under the Avalon's hood fits the sedan perfectly. It provides quick acceleration, with a zero to 60 time of just six seconds. The transmission works with the engine to smoothly transition between gears and give the driver confident passing power on the highway. The suspension devours bumps in the road and keeps the Avalon stable and firmly connected to the road when taking tight corners, while the responsive steering makes it easy to drive whether heading down the highway or over back roads.
Interior
The large Avalon has seating for five and plenty of space for all passengers to spread out. It has a large trunk with over 16 cubic feet of cargo space, and the rear seats fold down, opening the space even further. Standard cabin features include power-adjustable front seats, simulated leather upholstery, heated front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Bump up to the Limited trim, and you'll get upscale features such as leather upholstery, wood interior trim, ambient lighting, and heated rear seats.
A long list of tech features comes standard in the Avalon, starting with a 9-inch touch screen, four USB ports, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and Android Auto. It also has an eight-speed stereo system. A navigation system comes in the Limited, which also gains a 14-speaker stereo and wireless charging.
Safety Features
Every 2022 Avalon comes with several advanced safety features such as adaptive cruise control, a collision mitigation system, automatic frontal braking, lane-departure alert with steering assist, and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert. The Limited adds to all this with a head-up display and adaptive cornering headlights, and the Limited and Touring trims offer the option to add the Advanced Safety Package. This group adds a surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and a rear cross-traffic braking system that automatically applies the brakes if it senses a collision when the car is in reverse.
