2022 Toyota Sequoia
The Sequoia is Toyota's massive SUV. It has three rows of seats, comes standard with a full suite of driver aids, and provides families with lots of space for carrying people and gear. The 2022 model carries over without any significant changes, so you can still get all the features and equipment that make the Sequoia such a good choice. Take a look at some of the details.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Sequoia is the SR5. It has 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, LED fog lights, heated side exterior mirrors, and a sunroof. The TRD Sport adds a chrome grille surround with a black insert, the TRD sport-tuned suspension, Bilstein shocks, and 20-inch TRD sport black alloy wheels. Choose the Limited for auto-dimming and power-folding side mirrors, a power liftgate, and 20-inch alloy wheels, or the Nightshade Special Edition for 20-inch black split-spoke alloy wheels and integrated fog lights. Up next in the lineup, the Platinum adds 20-inch dark silver alloy wheels and an adaptive suspension.
There's also the TRD Pro with Rigid Industries LED fog lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, FOX shocks, black aluminum running boards, a power liftgate, and a TRD black roof rack.
Engine (Power)
Every Sequoia uses the same engine. The 5.7-liter V-8 gas powertrain delivers 381 horsepower and gets 401 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission works with the engine, and it comes standard with rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is optional for any trim.
Performance
The V-8 has plenty of power for the large Sequoia. It has no problem passing other vehicles on the highway and hauling a full load up hills and steep inclines. When equipped, it can tow up to 7,400 pounds. Choose the TRD Pro to add extra ground clearance if you need to tackle off-road terrain. This trim also has a two-speed transfer case making it more capable off the road.
Interior
The three rows of seats in the Sequoia have room for up to seven or eight passengers. Second-row captain's chairs are optional if you only need room for seven. Cloth upholstery and a power-adjustable seat for the driver are both standard, and moving up to the higher trim can get you leather upholstery, a power-adjustable passenger seat, heated second-row captain's chairs, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and even a power-folding third row.
The standard infotainment screen is a 7-inch touch screen, and all Sequoias come with a Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, Android Auto, three USB ports, and an eight-speaker stereo. The Limited gets an integrated navigation system, a 12-speaker stereo system, and the option for a rear-seat entertainment system with a Blu-ray player. Bump up to the Platinum to make the rear-seat entertainment system standard.
Safety Features
Every 2022 Sequoia comes with the Toyota Safety Sense P suite of driver aids. It includes a forward-collision warning system with pedestrian detection and automatic braking, dynamic radar cruise control, lane-departure warning, and a lane-keeping system with steering assist. Automatic high beams are also part of this group. Additional standard safety equipment includes a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and trailer sway control.
