As vehicle manufacturers continue to explore fuel alternatives, Toyota remains committed and at the forefront of hybrid, electric, and hydrogen gas powered vehicles. 2023 marks the seventh year that the Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel vehicle has been on the market and this iteration proves the belief that some things just get better with time.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2023 Toyota Mirai is a stunning car to gaze upon. With a body that spreads wide and sits low, the Mirai adds an elegant edge to its modern styling. The 2023 version comes in two different trim levels, the feature-rich XLE and the luxurious Limited, which both feature bi-beam auto-leveling LED headlights, multi-LED front and rear turn signal indicators, daytime running lights, and LED taillights and rear combination lights. Depending on the model selected, there are five exterior color options to choose from: Oxygen White, Heavy Metal, Black, Supersonic Red, and Hydro Blue.
The XLE is outfitted with 19-inch twin-spoke aluminum alloy wheels while the Limited model rocks 19-inch black machine-finished aluminum alloy wheels with an option to upgrade to 20-inch Super Chrome-finished aluminum alloy wheels.
Engine (Power)
You won't find a traditional gas powered engine under the Mirai's hood, nor will you see any emissions spewing from its tailpipe. Instead, the Mirai boasts a permanent magnet AC synchronous electric motor capable of outputting a respectable 182 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. It's hydrogen tank takes a paltry five minutes to refill and a manufacturer-estimated driving range of 402 miles on the XLE and 357 miles on the Limited.
Performance
The 2023 Toyota Mirai's electric motor and drive battery combine to create one of the smoothest driving experiences available with none of the carbon guilt that comes along with a traditional, internal combustion engine vehicle. The only byproduct this zero-emissions vehicle produces is pure water.
The Mirai also features three driver-selectable driving modes so you can select your own driving dynamics. Choose from Eco, Normal, and Sport to harmonize with your driving style or mood. Whatever you choose, the Mirai's multi-link front and rear suspension will have you feeling like you're drifting above the road rather than driving on it.
Interior
The 2023 Toyota Mirai's interior provides a plush escape from the exterior world. The XLE model offers heated and power adjustable front seats while the Limited model boosts the comfort features with heated and ventilated front and rear seats as well as driver and front passenger seating memory function.
The advanced technology features don't end with the electric motor and hydrogen-powered battery. The interior of the Mirai is also well-stocked with technology features such as a Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charging tray, dual- or three-zone automatic climate control, and a color Head-Up Display with speedometer and navigation, available on the Limited model.
Safety Features
Both models of the 2023 Toyota Mirai come with Toyota Safety Sense, an abundance of safety features that include a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, automatic high beams, full-speed range dynamic cruise control, and road sign assist. The Mirai also includes an anti-theft security system with an alarm and engine immobilizer to keep your car and its contents safe.
