Campsite

The beautiful capital city of Annapolis, MD is steeped in history with four centuries of architecture colliding with contemporary design and living. Known as America’s sailing capital, taking in a boat race is all part of the territory here. If the sea life isn’t for you, check out an art gallery, take in some fine dining, or hit up one of the many trails. If you like to camp, here are some of the best campgrounds around.

1. Bayshore Campgrounds

Bayshore is a small, charming camp spot that is kept up nicely by courteous and professional staff. Enjoy the serene setting of manicured grass and gorgeous views of the nearby bay. There’s a neat pond that you can fish in and plenty of spots to get out for a walk and enjoy nature. There’s a nearby town for amenities, including a great seafood restaurant that comes highly recommended by the manager of the campground.

2. Capitol KOA Campground

This is an excellent campground for both tents and RVs. The RV section is equipped with electricity, running water, a BBQ, a table and chairs, and a concrete patio. There’s plenty to do at the site including an abundance of nature trails, a trampoline, a chess setup, and nice clean showers. They also have a great camp store where you can find almost anything that you need.

3. Greenbelt Park

This park offers amazing hiking with great rates on campsites. It’s a little bit of an urban campground, which can mean more noise, but its proximity to so many great trails makes it worthwhile. Most sites have a grill and firepit which is wonderful for a cookout or warming up on those chilly nights. It’s a short jaunt from the city, and you can reserve online so you don’t have to check in on arrival.

4. NSA Annapolis Campground

This is a very small and lovely campground that attracts a lot of long-stay visitors, particularly RV people. The bathrooms are immaculate, and the showers have decent water pressure which is always a plus after long days of travel. It’s a short walk to the water where you can take a dip or get out on a boat and do some fishing. The price is right, and this is a great spot for current and ex-military folks.

5. Joint Base Andrews FamCamp

This cool spot is right on the golf course and the environment is perfect for those with kids. It’s a quiet campground that is popular among the RV crowd. The area is heavily wooded providing much-needed shade in those sweltering summer months. The site is well-maintained and has nice details like concrete pads for RVs, meaning that when it rains you aren’t exiting your rig and stepping into a giant mud puddle.

If you plan on camping a lot, you’re going to need a reliable vehicle to get around and haul your tent and bikes. Come on down to Koons Annapolis Toyota today and let our helpful staff set you up with one of our excellent new or used vehicles.
